The process to deploy or upgrade Sun Java involves downloading the standalone Java installer, extracting the .msi and deploying the installation via a BCX MSI Package Task.

If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers.

Download

Direct download link for Java installer (jre-8u60-windows-i586.exe) (version number may be different):

http://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

Run the Java installation file and leave it at the first screen (don’t click next).

Browse to: c:\users\%username%\AppData\LocalLow\Oracle\Java\jre1.8.0_60 (the version number may be different)

Note: You may need to enable hidden folders view. To do this, go to Control Panel and select Folder Options. Within the new dialog, select the View tab and click the bulleted Show hidden files, folders, and drives. Click Ok.

Next, you need to copy the jre1.8.0_60.msi file (version and numbers may be slightly different) to your packages$ share or distribution point

eg \\servername\packages$\MSI\Java

Installation Instructions

You can now create an MSI Install package task to deploy Sun Java.

After adding the task, only assign to a few individual testing stations to test deployment
